Are you Built to Pivot?
Like the title, I’ve been going through a pivot myself.
Turning 40 this year really forced me to look back on what I’ve accomplished so far and reflect on how I want to use my time moving forwards.
At the end of last year, I felt stuck and I knew deep down that I was capable of more.
With time feeling like it was flying by, at the start of this year, we decided to start driving up north towards Broome, Western Australia (2,240km away!).
In search of a change of pace, a chance to reset and explore other ways to live.
However, taking a step out of corporate life and a regular income set off a rollercoaster of emotions.
Pretty much as soon as we started driving north, the world turned upside down.
With rising fuel costs and other unexpected obstacles, we found ourselves adapting on the spot.
It has been a period of deep personal growth.
As difficult as it was at times, I'm now grateful it happened because it gave me the time and space to create Built to Pivot.
Right now, there is a lot of uncertainty in the world.
With the rise of AI and a possibility of a recession, it can sometimes feel like the goal posts keep moving without warning.
While none of us can control everything life throws at us, we can develop the skills, mindset and confidence to adapt when change inevitably comes.
I’m still learning, evolving and growing myself.
I know my husband and I were fortunate to be in a position where we could take that leap.
When you have financial commitments, family and other responsibilities, making a significant career change isn't always possible.
That is exactly why I want to help.
Sometimes you don't need all the answers - you just need a plan and someone to help you see the next step.
Lessons Learned
I learnt that no matter how hard you plan, sometimes things happen that you could never have foreseen or expected.
It really helped to have my husband to support me through all that change.
We worked together as a team, and it made a massive difference having someone to talk to during the difficult moments.
Don't be afraid to make decisions and take action.
Even if it doesn't work out, then you will know for certain and eventually you will find the right direction.
It is really tough out there right now.
Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it (I'm still working on this too).
We all need support at difference stages of our lives, and there is real strength in reaching out.
