Would you know if it was AI?
This week I came across a YouTube channel about caravans and life in the Australian outback.
However, I recognised the voice — it was AI-generated.
I knew because I'd used the same tool myself while experimenting with ElevenLabs - it can generate realistic voiceovers instantly and has a diverse catalogue of over 11,000 AI voices.
What surprised me was that the video had over 100,000 views.
It got me wondering: would anyone else notice that?
If I hadn't used the tool myself, would I have?
And as more "faceless" videos and channels emerge, will it become harder to tell what's real from what's generated?
There seems to be a growing interest in analogue experiences, away from screens and the constant notification chimes at the moment.
Maybe because the quality of the content is just as important — or even more important — than what it looks like.
I know I become quickly disengaged when I realise something is AI-generated, and I find myself questioning the legitimacy and the source of the information.
What have your experiences been?
